A Compact Implantable MIMO Antenna for High-Data-Rate Biotelemetry Applications

This article presents a low-profile multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) implantable antenna system, including capsule endoscopy and scalp implantation at medical implant communication service (MICS) band (402–405 MHz), industrial, scientific, (ISM) (433.1–438.8 MHz). It consists of two elements with an edge-to-edge gap $0.0018\lambda _{g}$ overall dimensions notation="LaTeX">$\pi \times (5.65)^{2} 0.13$ mm 3 is placed on 0.13 mm-thick RO3010 ( notation="LaTeX">$\epsilon _{r} = 10.2$ tan notation="LaTeX">$\delta 0.0022$ ) substrate. The integrated batteries, sensors, electronic components in different types devices (capsule flat-type devices). simulation result shows that the has fractional bandwidth (FBW) 33.9%, maximum realized gain ?30 dBi, isolation more than 26 dB. fabricated prototype measured saline solution minced pork meat. results are found good accordance simulations. parameters calculated showed significant independence between radiators. A link budget estimated to be 78 Mb/s for distance 20 m. Thus, proposed considered as promising high-data-rate applications such endoscopy, live surgeries, other biomedical where high data rate required.
